Hello members and HSO community,
I am most delighted and honoured to be President of the HSO, thank you all for your wonderful engagement and commitment to one of the most wonderful groups I know. I would also like to whole-heartedly and sincerely thank Stephanie Hughes, who has been our wonderful, steadfast, reliable and longest serving president. Under her tenure the orchestra has flourished and made many accomplishments of which we can all be proud. From trips to remote towns, to successfully navigating through the COVID years and organising large outdoor concerts and events, Steph has been and will always be integral to the long illustrious list of the orchestra's achievements. We will all treasure the positive memories of firework shows, concerto concerts, anniversary dinners, and late-night laughter at the Principal. Our sincere thanks Steph. I am also grateful to have a wonderful committee to work with and want to thank them also for working hard to not only run the orchestra but to improve and grow it also. Committee meetings are great meetups at the Midland Dome over some wedges, and an opportunity to brainstorm and work together to improve prospects and opportunities. Members, if you have any suggestions or thoughts, and want to be involved in this wonderful aspect of the orchestra, it is indeed a marvellous and rewarding opportunity. Thank you, committee members. But most of importantly: thank you all for coming to rehearsals and concerts and enjoying a love of life and musical adventure. It goes without saying that the orchestra means a lot to a lot of people, and not just musically but socially too. Members, if you have any ideas for events and anything on the calendar, they would always be welcome as well as coming to the existing ones after concerts or in-between rehearsals. We should all be very excited about the future of the HSO. It has and always will have a special place in our life, connecting us, our wonderful audiences and community with the very best music has to offer, and providing an opportunity for everyone to collaborate musically and socially as a group. Let's all enjoy ourselves and play some music. Patrick Hubble
