Want to hear more about our upcoming concert and what we've got planned for 2014? Malti Elliott from 89.7fm has got you covered in this recent interview with our conductor/music director Shaun Fraser. Click below to listen. HSO is back online for 2014! We are very excited to present our programme for 2014 - available here. There will be a lot of variety this year, so there should be something for everyone to enjoy. We will kick start the year on Sunday March 16 with a crash course in the evolution of music style over two centuries of classical music - Baroque and Beyond. In May, our Myths and Legends concert (family-friendly) will explore music that paints pictures and tells stories. Merry Melodies in July will be another fun, family-friendly concert featuring music from classic cartoons. In September, we will be presenting our annual symphony - we have chosen Beethoven Symphony No. 3 (Eroica) this year. Our premiere concert of the year will be our take on the famous BBC Last Night of the Proms concert, featuring the best of British classical music and all the associated festivity, pomp and circumstance! The season wraps on November 29 with our Best of 2014 concert - the twist this year is that you get to choose the programme! At each concert, as well as on our Facebook page, and here on the website we will be conducting polls to decide your favourite pieces from each programme. Join us in March for the first chance to vote! As always, we welcome your feedback on all matters, and hope that you enjoy the year we have planned! A great little video put together by the Sydney Symphony for one of their upcoming concerts. Worth watching. Ever wanted to know the story of Wagner's 15-hour Ring Cycle? .... Here it is in two and a half minutes: After a good summer break, HSO is back for 2013. Rehearsals began again last week and we got straight into some new music for our first concert on March 23. This year we are pleased to announce that we will be performing six concerts in the Perth Hills area, as well as travelling further afield to bring our music to some regional areas. The main focus of 2013 will be our four-concert series - The Four Elements, starting with Fire! For more information, check out our concerts page. Thanks for visiting our website, and we hope to see you at our first concert.
December 8 will be a busy day for HSO as we will be performing two concerts. The first is a Children's Christmas Concert in Mundaring Town Hall at 1 pm, which is a celebration of one of our sponsors, Mundaring Community Bank Branch Bendigo Bank, turning 10! It's going to be a fun programme for kids, and the best thing is that IT'S FREE ...but only if you're younger than 13, otherwise it's $5! After that's done, we pack up all our gear and head down to Midland. Our final concert for the year will be in the evening (7:30 pm) at Midland Town Hall and we will play HSO's Best of 2012 - all our favourites and hopefully yours too! We can't wait to show off what a fantastic year we've had, so get your tickets now!
We're currently rehearsing very hard for our next concert - War and Peace on November 3, 7:30 pm. It's going to be a huge show and we're all looking forward to it! All our concerts so far this year have been at the Midland Town Hall, but we're taking it out to the Hills in November and performing this one at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre. Seats are limited so you may want to consider booking ahead of the night. See you there!
Due to unforseen circumstances surrounding the multimedia component of our War and Peace concert, we have had to postpone this programme until November 3rd. We have brought forward our Classical Concert programme for the upcoming concert on September 15. This concert will feature a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in its entirety and it set to be a fantastic show. The new concert flyer is now available, as well as an updated 2012 season flyer. We apologise for any inconvenience this switch may have caused.
